Cocalière cave

Description

Visit one of the most beautiful caves in France. The tour follows an easy route. With an indoor temperature of 14 degrees, it's advisable to bring warm clothing. The return journey takes place by small train through the natural site.

Guided and commented throughout a secure route lasting approximately one hour, the underground visit to La Cocalière is accessible to all ages. The temperature here is constant, around 14 degrees, and you discover a living cave, that is to say still in formation.

In addition to the usual calcite concretions, stalagmites and stalactites of various sizes and shapes (including masses and columns), you can admire along the way the discs – circular concretions defying the laws of gravity. Those of La Cocalière are among the most beautiful and unusual, from the fine draperies (or calcite braid) to the semi-transparent streaks of growth suspended from the vault, without forgetting the eccentric budding crystals and the fistulas or elongated macaroni and so purposes.

All these geological curiosities are most often found on the clear or bluish water of the gours or natural pools with their edges scalloped with calcite. Those in the Salle des Gours, arranged in steps, are remarkable. Along the way, a cave pearl in formation will demand your attention, especially since it is a visually extremely rare natural phenomenon.

Near the exit, you can observe the representation of a prehistoric excavation site showing objects and bones from the Neolithic and Bronze Age. From there, a small train will take you back to reception via a path crossing the scrubland.

Discovery Trail – The 35-minute walk takes place on a shaded route, partially accessible to strollers. Its access is free.
