Associations:Home/Events/Guided tours of the Henri Charrière exhibitions "Papillon" and the Beast of Gévaudan

Description

Guided tour exploring the incredible life of the famous convict Papillon, originally from St Etienne de Lugdarès, and discovering Gérard Lattier's paintings of the Beast of Gévaudan, in the town where the first victim was found. Reservations required.

In 1764, the quiet village of Saint-Etienne-de-Lugdarès experienced its moment in history. The Beast of Gévaudan committed its first crime at Les Hubacs.

The painter Gérard LATTIER illustrated this reality, which has become legendary and has even reached the status of myth, through 43 paintings that will surprise you with the richness of their details. This work is exhibited in its entirety in the former chapel of the convent of Saint-Joseph.
