Description
A magical place: a house built more than 350 years ago in the heart of a mountain cirque. Surrounded by forests of beech and fir trees, the farm of Médille is a large stone building, with a slate roof, nestled against Mont Mézenc.
In these two shared rooms (LES JONQUILLES / LES GENTIANES), we have single beds spaced far enough apart to ensure everyone's privacy. Located in the east wing of our farmhouse, you'll find a calm and relaxing mountain chalet atmosphere.
For each bed, we provide pillows, pillowcases, fitted sheets, and blankets. Please bring your own sleeping bag (or top sheet) and towels.
After a good day of hiking in the heart of the Ardèche mountains (Gerbier de Jonc, Mézenc, Boutières, Suc de Sara) you will appreciate getting together at the Ferme de Médille with friends or family where conviviality and sharing reign.
The farm is near the GR 7 and the GR 420 and offers many possibilities for walks (towards Fay sur Lignon, Estables, Borée, Saint Eulalie, Gerbier…)
The region around the Médille farm is located on the watershed line. To the west of Mont Mézenc the rivers flow towards the Atlantic, to the east towards the Mediterranean.
It is a land of volcanic mountains and the vegetation is particularly beautiful and wild.
La Ferme de Médille is one of the highest inhabited farms in the Ardèche, perched at an altitude of 1365 meters on the northeast slope of Mont Mézenc, which itself rises to 1754 meters, on the border between the Haute-Loire and Ardèche departments. Facing due south, it offers a panoramic view of volcanic mountains, hills, meadows, and forests: the Suc de Sara, Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc (source of the Loire River), the Borée rocks, and, in the background, the Alps and Mont Blanc. A small waterfall on the hillside supplies the farm with water. While walking in the surrounding area, you might spot marmots, hares, deer, eagles, wild boar…
The Médille farm has 5 bedrooms (3 private guest rooms and 2 shared rooms); our 3 spacious and relaxing guest rooms have private bathrooms and toilets. Our 2 welcoming shared rooms are ideal for groups or travelers.
To relax you will also have access to a lounge by the fireplace with books and board games.
The Médille farm welcomes both people wishing to recharge their batteries for a weekend or several days, as well as hikers (on foot, on horseback, accompanied by a donkey, by bike/mountain bike, on skis, on snowshoes) or quad bike, motorcycle or 4x4 enthusiasts. Whether you are alone or in a group you will appreciate the peace and quiet, the authenticity of the place and the generous cuisine we serve for the evening meal.
