Outings full of flavor: discovering Ardèche gastronomy and local produce

The Ardèche Mountains are a jewel of Ardèche gastronomy. Enjoy the many outings full of flavors thanks to our weekly markets, but also to many events around the specialties of the Mountain.

Don't miss the Maôche season, a typical dish made with cabbage and sausage meat that you find on the tables every autumn at many village festivals. Meals, concerts, and of course the unmissable Maôche competition that will crown the best Maôche cook for the current year, during the festival dedicated to him in Saint-Cirgues-en-Montagne.

At the same time and still in Saint-Cirgues-en-Montagne, if you are a fine gourmet, do not miss the Mushroom and Horse Fair: the opportunity to experience a moment of exchange, sharing and discovery on the famous producers and artisans market for short circuit purchases.

And who says autumn, says chestnut, and in the Ardèche Mountains it is synonymous with Castagnades! These festivals, dedicated to the cultivation and cooking of chestnuts, take place every year, from mid-October to mid-November in different Ardèche towns, but it is at the end of October that you can enjoy these tastings in Saint-Laurent-les-Bains-Laval-d'Aurelle. On the program, entertainment, meals, producers' market and the emblematic chestnut roasts!

In June, the AOP Fin Gras du Mézenc is in the spotlight! This beef from oxen and heifers raised on hay and grass in the Mézenc region is available from February to June only in traditional butchers. Since its creation in 1996, the Fête de l'AOP Fin Gras has brought together an entire region around a unique know-how during which animal parades, themed walks, a market, tastings, musical entertainment and various activities will enchant the public.

Friendly and festive outings: not to be missed

For cultural and festive outings, there are a few unmissable dates to include in your diary, starting with Heritage Days, Mill Day, Music Festival, Pink October, Halloween and New Year's Eve.

But what would summer be without July 14th and the traditional fireworks of the votive festivals? And because votive festivals rhyme with pétanque, don't miss the pétanque competitions in the various villages during the summer. The events calendar also includes many balls and festivals, the most popular of which are the Coucouron ball and the festivals D' la Joie sous les Lampions, the Champ des Muses, but also Les Nuits des Monts.

Throughout the year, the area is full of enthusiasm for its friendly events such as belote competitions, bingo, cinema sessions and also plays. And for bargain hunters, there are of course the garage sales and flea markets... Not forgetting, at the end of the year, the long-awaited Christmas markets!

For ideas for outings, for a weekend or a day, the Montagne d'Ardèche is teeming with varied activities, all year round, to discover through its calendar. Do you want a change of scenery? The Montagne d'Ardèche is the place for meetings and events where the values of the Ardèche will surprise you.
