The Rocks of Borée

Home/Natural heritage/The Rocks of Borée
These are typical examples of viscous lava needles that have moved into place almost in a solid state. Here no craters but massive shapes in the landscape. Interpretation table between the two rocks.

Description

These multiple pistons are installed, like most nearby volcanoes, in a period ranging from 8 to 6 million years. Access by the car park on the village square. 1 hour hike (round trip) between the two rocks of Borée, 2 km (easy trail). Follow the signs for the Montagne Ardéchoise.
