This source corresponds to the official source indicated on the cadastral plan n° 87. It flows in a natural environment, it comes out of the ground in a meadow, under a stone which bears the inscription "here begins my road to the ocean".
Description
Going to the watering hole “in my grandfather's barn”, as a young girl put it on her school certificate. The Loire has its source in the east of the Massif Central, at the southern foot of Mont Gerbier de Jonc, in the Ardèche commune of Sainte-Eulalie, at an altitude of 1408 m. The geographical source of the Loire: initially a simple trickle of water which gives one of the most beautiful rivers in our country.
