Description
Here, snowshoe hikers discover a variety of different landscapes every day with sublime panoramas. From these high, easily climbed Ardèche peaks, the view takes in most of the Massif Central, from the Cévennes to the Auvergne, as well as the entire Alps.
Going on a Nordic camping trip means putting yourself in the shoes of a trapper (without the hunting part... although...!).
It's an opportunity to understand the snowy environment, the weather and snow conditions, to get to know yourself by having to manage simple situations: I'm hungry, I'm cold, where are we going to sleep, how do I get my bearings?...
For overnight stays in cabins, teepees, or igloos, hikers will be asked to contribute collectively to setting up camp, building igloos, and preparing meals. Conditions in bivouacs are generally basic; you must accept from the start that you will find minimal comfort there.
The bivouac sites are located in the heart of nature, in the forest or in a clearing. Dry toilets will be installed outside.
The night will be spent in a cabin (first night), then in a teepee tent or, for the more adventurous, in an igloo. For the teepee, a small, adapted stove can provide additional comfort.
You will need to bring a sleeping bag with a comfortable temperature between -10 and -5°C, as well as a self-inflating mattress or camp bed in its carrying case. Extra blankets are provided. Temperatures can drop to -15°C outside. Inside the igloo, the temperature can be between 1 and 5°C, while in the teepee, it can be between 8 and 12°C at bedtime. Naturally, near the stove, it is a little warmer.
We will not always be able to provide fresh products (meat, dairy products, etc.), meals will be prepared using non-perishable products (canned goods, dried fruits, freeze-dried products, etc.). Participants will need to bring their own cutlery, cups and plates for meals.
