Culminating at 1753 m, Mont Mézenc, the highest volcanic peak in the department, marks the divide between the Atlantic and Mediterranean waters. A phonolithic dome formed by the coalescence of several lava flows, it offers a 360° panorama.
Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc, an ancient volcano with a sugarloaf-shaped summit, is famous for being the source of the Loire River. A unique natural site offering breathtaking views in the heart of the UNESCO Global Geopark. At its base, enjoy the Visitor Centre.
A maar-type volcano, the artificial lake is partly nestled in a vast explosion crater whose edges can be seen. It is possible to walk around it (1,5 km). Fishing lake. Water sports centre and supervised swimming in July and August.
It is located in the center of the village. The spring's temperature is 53°C. Its origin is not volcanic: it is surface water that has seeped in along large faults. Deep down, it has heated up and become enriched with minerals.
The volcanic juice of Gouléïou takes its name from the particular site it occupies. “Gouléïou” actually comes from “goulet”, that is to say “col”. It is a relief formed of phonolite, a clear volcanic rock enriched in silica.
The sap of Touron near Borée, is a volcano characterized by a blue phonolite presenting a formation in blocks of parallelepiped shapes. It is close to the Roches de Borée and the Gouleïou juice. Many screes are visible on the slopes.
Alpine marmots were introduced between 1980 and 1991 in the outskirts of Mont Mézenc, from the Gandoulet site. In 2011, more than 125 family groups were identified around this massif.

This maar is a superb example of phreatomagmatic volcanic activity. The operation is characterized by an intense explosive activity caused by the meeting of the hot magma during the ascent with the waters infiltrated from the surface.
