Description
Located immediately in the background of Lac d'Issarles, they allow you to imagine what the topography was like when they were put in place 8.2 million years ago.
If we connect in thought the base of the flows on either side of the river, we have a good idea of what the old cross-section of the valley was, which was wide and shallow. The river has gradually eroded the V-shaped valley and more recently the gorge, probably due to the almost current major uplift of the Cévennes edge of the Massif Central.
