Description
If we connect in thought the base of the flows on either side of the river, we have a good idea of what the old cross-section of the valley was, which was wide and shallow. The river has gradually eroded the V-shaped valley and more recently the gorge, probably due to the almost current major uplift of the Cévennes edge of the Massif Central.
